Fresh Strawberries picked in Wisconsin

Has anyone else completely lost track of what day of the week it is? This holiday-on-a-Tuesday business has my internal weekday clock out of sync. I propose we move the Fourth of July to be permanently on a Friday.

When I suggested this idea to Ben, he brought up the irritatingly accurate point that a Friday Fourth of July wouldn’t always be on the fourth. It’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make for the sake of a three-day weekend. Anyone agree?

Aside from the fact that, deep down, I really wish that every day could be Saturday, part of my calendar confusion stems from being completely out of a routine for the last few weeks, in the best possible of ways.

In the name of summer fun, I’ve been sneaking out of the house early on weekday afternoons to squeeze in a few checkmarks on my summer bucket list. Thus far, I’ve managed to pick strawberries, toast s’mores, and watch the most magical fireworks in a family friend’s backyard. On Tuesday night, a group of girlfriends and I attended an outdoor concert, and I bought that straw hat after all.

Not working afternoons has meant working weekends here and there, but it’s been worth the adjustment, and I’m grateful to have the flexibility.

Speaking of grateful…THANK YOU for being here. I don’t say it often enough. I am so fortunate to have you as a reader. This site (and thus my job) couldn’t exist without your support. It means the world!

Now, onto the latest love list. Here are a few items I’ve been ♥-ing lately, a look at upcoming recipes I’m excited to share, and a collection of your Instagram photos too!

Most popular recipe on my site right now: Strawberry Oatmeal Bars. ’Tis the season!

Upcoming blog recipe I’m most excited to share: Raspberry Peach Upside Down Cake. We devoured it in a single sitting!

Inspired by: Heidi’s summer bucket list. It’s reflective, original, and has me wanting to add more items to mine.

Because I’m really into this bucket list thing: This printable bingo card is fun, family-friendly way to bring your bucket list to life and motivate you to cross off the items.

How to Build the Perfect Cheese Plate: a.k.a. LIFE SKILLZ.

While you are at it: How to Entertain Like a Parisian, by one of my favorite bloggers, cookbook authors, and a person I’d really, really like to have dinner with in a “I’m a fan girl but this isn’t creepy” kind of way, David Lebovitz.

Not taking off: This shirt. It’s ultra comfy, versatile, and looks super cute with jeans or shorts.

Not so basic basic: These shoes. They make me look and feel more put together than my favorite old beat up flip flops (four years and still going strong!), and were comfortable enough to wear in NYC. Bonus: they are on sale right now!

Spotify playlist of the moment: Tailgate Party. It feels oh-so-appropriate for backyard BBQs.

Bulk buying: Coconut Bai. OMG. It’s pricey in the store, but decidedly less pricey on Amazon…which is a good thing, because I’ve become a wee bit completely obsessed.

And now…INSTAGRAM! Here are a few photos of Well Plated recipes you’ve made and posted. I can’t say enough how happy this makes me! If you’d like to be featured, see details below.

If you make one of my recipes, I’d love to see it on Instagram and might feature it here! Just snap a photo and tag it #WellPlated, and I will be sure to find it. I absolutely love to know what you’re cooking.

NOTE: If you simply put @wellplated in the photo caption, I am unlikely to see it, because my alerts do not show every comment tag. SO SAD. The hashtag is the best way to make sure I see what you post, OR you can tap to tag @wellplated in the photo itself (NOT the caption). Thank you, THANK YOU for making and sharing my recipes. It means more than I can say.

  1. Hi Erin, WOW, what gorgeous strawberries! So happy you are making progress on your summer bucket list! I’m so glad you bought that darling hat! It would be lovely to see you wearing it! Thanks for the tip about David Lebovitz; it will be fun checking out his blog, especially since a trip to Paris isn’t in the cards right now! I’m with you about losing track of what day it is, due to the Fourth of July holiday. I was sure Wednesday was Friday!
