Hi friends! It feels a bit odd to be posting this, but in favor of keeping with tradition (and after hearing from many of you that you are still highly in favor of this content), here it is: my picks from the 2020 Nordstrom Anniversary sale.

2020 Nordstrom Annual Sale Collage with Top Finds

I like this sale because Nordstrom includes so many basics and a large selection of fall merchandise (vs. marking down summer things you likely don’t need). It’s a good time to look for core fall items (sweaters, coats, boots) or to stock up on things you purchase regularly. Popular faves that almost never go on sale (like these famous magic leggings) are marked down.

I also have been finding some happy distraction via online retail therapy as of late (ahem, writing this post), even when I’m just window shopping.

For cardholders, you can shop early access starting August 13. (It’s easy and free to become one. You don’t need to open a credit card; there’s a debit option too, which is what I use. Learn more here.) The sale opens to the public (no card necessary) on August 19.

(FYI: Nordstorm doesn’t pay me to write this post, and none of the brands I’m linking to below do either. I’m sharing my honest favorites—things I either would buy, plan to buy, or have used in the past and loved.)

Without further ado, here are my favorite finds from the sale!

Tops, Sweaters, and Comfy Things to Wear at Home

Pleated Sleeve Sweatshirt. Definitely adding this to my cuter-at-home collection.

Cropped Gray Sweatshirt. Because if 2020 taught me anything, it’s that there are never enough cute sweatshirts.

Stripe Sleeve Sweater. Neutral with a little pizzazz. Yes!

Chunky Cardigan. This makes me excited for fall.

Chunky Gray Sweater. For when I’m not wearing the gray sweatshirt (above).

Lace Trim Top. Someone take me out so I can wear this.

Core Body Suit. I have a few Topshop items and really like them all.

The Perfect Plaid Shirt. I scored one of these on markdown a few years ago, and I cannot overstate the softness and ideal fit.

Cute, Comfy Tank. This has breezy all over it. And it comes in tie-dye!

Cozy Chic Leopard Cardigan. I could live in this.

Easy Camo Tee. Love the roll sleeve detail.

Better Sweater. This is a fall/winter wardrobe wonder. It makes a great gift too.

Extra Cozy Top. Yes, I am getting the matching shorts.

Knit Long Sleeve Dress. Looks so comfy and easy to dress up or down.

Mini Daisy Dress. Sweet and flirty.

Leopard Print Smocked Mini Dress. So cute with booties.

SPANX Faux Leather Leggings. I bought a pair at last year’s sale and LUVVV. 3,000 5-star reviews don’t lie.

Broken-In Jeans. I am all about the slimmer, flattering cut that still looks relaxed.

Essential Gray Joggers. I got a pair of these a few years ago and still wear them all the time.

Live-In Black Joggers. Staple.

Comfy Shorts. Of course I will be getting the ones that match the above top.

Suede Skirt. This + boots = sexy + classy.

SHOES (Maybe My Favorite Part)

The Ultimate Travel Bootie. I have worn these all over New York, Paris, Italy, and Copenhagen. They are truly waterproof and very comfortable.

Waterproof Wedge Bootie. If you live in a cold climate, this brand is legit.

Casual Waterproof Bootie. For a laidback look.

Cutest Bootie Ever. Not to oversell it, but are they not the cutest?

Fuzzy Slippers. I’m 100% obsessed with these UGG slippers, so I suspect this pair is also amaze.

Block Heel Suede Bootie. Loving the subtle Western vibe (just the right amount).

Pointed Toe Bootie. The snake print is totally rock-able! Great solids too.

Lace Up Bootie. This brand is known for being comfortable and great for walking.

Most Fun Sneakers. All over the silver.

Essential White Sneakers. Dresses, leggings, or jeans, they always belong.

Perfect Around Town Sneaker. How cute is the print?

Pretty Pink Kicks. For when you aren’t wearing the ones above.

Fleeces and Coats

Suede Moto Jacket. Fall wardrobe staple.

Leopard Bomber. Because leopard is a neutral. I’d wear this over anything!

North Face Fleece. I live in Wisconsin and have had good experiences with North Face products. This one looks so extra warm and cozy.

Patagonia Down Puffer. If you need a winter coat, Patagonia is fantastic and a stellar company in general (check out its founder’s episode on How I Built This).

Beauty (Some Great Finds This Year)

Best-Ever Leave-In Conditioner. This is the best anti-frizz product I’ve ever tried. I have fine (yet annoyingly frizzy) hair. It smooths it without weighing it down or making it look flat or greasy.

Brow Gel + Pencil. I have both of these. LOVE! I use the brow gel almost every day.

Instantly Glowy Skin. Good Genes is pricey but I’ve tried it and saw results in one night. A friend calls it her “holy grail,” and I can see why.

Make Up Removing Facewash. Gentle and MELTS make up (even mascara) right off your face.

Loose Setting Powder. Other than mascara, this powder is the makeup product I can’t live without. I dust it right over tinted moisturizer and look put together. I’m sure the primer is great too.

Crushed Lip Stick/Gloss Set. The color looks incredible, and I’ve been really happy with other Bobbi Brown lip products I’ve tried.

Sugar Lip Balm Set. Tried for the first time at the Sephora sale. Love! So soft and pretty.

Pillow Talk Lip Secrets Set. I never EVER thought I’d use lip liner (who am I, my mother?) but I tried this one and am a believer now.

Best Make Up Primer Ever. Excited about the set.

My Absolute Favorite Perfume. Feminine. Not too sweet. Not too flowery. Perfect.

Dennis Gross Peel Pads. Use about 3x per week for visibly softer and glowier skin.

Other Stuff I Really Like

Favorite Candle. It will make your house smell effortlessly chic (and like Anthropologie. Long lasting, and its scent actually fills the room.

Essential Earrings. I wear this pair almost every day. They with anything, be it dressy or casual.

Cozy Socks. Winter doesn’t stand a chance.

This Underwear. We’re all friends, so I will tell you it is super comfortable and washes well. I was skeptical of the “one size” at first, but it works.

Feathers Bra. Comfortable, feminine, and won’t flip or do anything else weird.

Pop Quiz Backpack. Great for travel or around town.

  1. Can you tell me any more about how to get the Nordstrom debit card that you mentioned? I don’t really want to open a new credit card, so this would be a great option! However, when I went to the link that you provided, I didn’t see any information about the debit option. Can you only choose the debit option once you fill out the application for the card? (And is it the Visa Signature card, the Nordstrom retail card, or something else?) Thanks so much for your help!

    1. Erin, I am honestly not sure!! I’ve had mine for a number of years, so maybe they switched things up? I’d suggest making a call to customer service to see if they can assist. Sorry I can’t help more.
