2-Year Blogiversary Favorite Things Giveaway {Bob’s Red Mill, Red Star Yeast & Wusthof}

Two years ago, I took a hideous picture of a gooey pan of enchiladas with my flip phone, uploaded it, then hit publish. The Law Student’s Wife was born.

I didn’t track pageviews back in those days, but I imagine that first food post had about 12 hits—10 from me insisting Ben check it multiple times a day, one from my Grammy, and one from my friend Kathryn who was crazy enough to make those hideous (but tasty) enchiladas.

When I began this blog, I pictured myself casually sending quick recipes (and really bad cell phone pictures) of what we ate for dinner and my latest baking adventures into the black hole of the internet. I thought my friends and family might read it if they were bored at work. I didn’t even like the term “blogger,” and I refused to refer to myself that way.

Then:Ranger Cookies, circa 2012

Now: My Favorite Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookies, circa two weeks ago
Whole Wheat Walnut Chocolate Chip Cookies with espresso and cinnamon

Never, ever did I imagine that my blog would grow to become both my greatest source of creative energy and my greatest cause of sleep deprivation.

I now own cute stripy straws in six colors. When did that happen?

I didn’t expect blogging to lead me to meet some of the most inspiring, generous, and open-hearted friends I will ever know.

And I certainly didn’t expect it to lead me to you, my readers. You have been the best part of it all.

I knew that blogging involved me spitting content into the void—what I didn’t know was how much love and support I would receive in return. Just this week, I have been overwhelmed by your kind words and congratulations in response to my post about Ben’s graduation. Thank you.

The Law Student, graduated!

I can’t say enough how much it means to share a little of myself with you here, to read your warm words, to have you try my recipes. Every time you email, comment, Tweet, Facebook, or Instagram to let me know about a dish you tried, I’m as bubbly and giddy as when my friend Kathryn tried those first enchiladas. Thank you. For every pin, every link shared, every time you opened one of my emails to read a new post, thank you.

In addition to connecting with readers and fellow bloggers, blogging has also give me the opportunity to work with fantastic brands whose products I trust and value. A few of those brands have generously offered to help celebrate my two-year blog milestone by putting together a fantastic giveaway for you!

2-Year Blogiversary Favorite Things Giveaway

The items included in this giveaway are a few of my favorite things, furnished by my favorite brands. One lucky reader will have a chance to win:

From Bob’s Red Mill:

  • Quick Cooking Steel Cut Oats: All the flavor, body, and satisfaction of slow-cooking steel cut oats, in a fraction of the time..
  • Kamut Berries: A nutty, hearty, and fiber-rich whole grain that I first discovered through Bob’s and since have taken to using in place of rice. (It’s fabulous in this Warm Brussels Sprouts and Kamut Berry Salad.)

  • Flaxseed Meal: Hello omega-3 power! Stir a few tablespoons into your smoothies, oatmeal, baked goodies, and even yogurt for an instant boost.

From Red Star Yeast:

      • An autographed copy of one of my all-time favorite cookbooks, Healthy Bread in 5 Minutes a Day.
      • Essential Bread-Baking Tools, including: a dough whisk, bench scraper, and instant read thermometer.
      • Dress for Success: A heavy duty apron and oven mitt.
      • A supply of my bread-baking secret weapon, Red Star Platinum Instant Yeast

From Wusthof:

  • 8-inch Classic Cook’s Knife: The ultimate kitchen workhorse. If I could only have one knife for the entirety of my culinary career, it would be this one.
