Prep Time: 5mins
Total Time: 5mins
Servings: 4drinks (see notes)
1cuphulled strawberries - fresh or frozen
½ounce(1 tablespoon) freshly squeezed lemon juice
1bottle(750 ml) brut champagne or sparkling wine - look for a champagne or similar sparkling wine such as Prosecco, cava, or cremant; be sure it is labeled “brut” which is the driest type
Fresh strawberries - for garnish
Place the strawberries and lemon juice in a blender or food processor. Puree until smooth.
Spoon 1 to 2 tablespoons of the puree into the bottom of a champagne flute and top with champagne. With a long spoon, very gently stir. Garnish with a fresh strawberry slice and sip away!
This recipe will yield about 10 tablespoons of puree, which is enough for about 4 to 8 drinks, depending upon the amount of puree you like in your glass. One bottle of champagne is about 4 drinks with each drink being a 6-ounce serving. Feel free to use more or less puree or champagne, depending upon your desired ratio.
Nutrition has been calculated with 6 ounces of sparkling wine and 1 1/2 tablespoons puree.
TO STORE: Store the strawberry puree in an airtight storage container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Top with champagne just before serving.
