Hi, I’m Erin Clarke!
I’m the recipe creator, food photographer, and best-selling cookbook author behind Well Plated by Erin. I started this blog because I love creating food that is wholesome, approachable, and tastes amazing.
My goal is simple: to help you put meals on the table that make you feel good, without spending hours in the kitchen or a fortune at the grocery store.
My Expertise
I focus on creating healthy twists on classic comfort foods—meals that feel familiar and cozy, but are lightened up to fit busy, balanced lifestyles. Some of my favorite things to make are:
- 30-minute dinners and one-pan meals
- Slow cooker recipes (I have a soft spot for those “set it and forget it” nights!)
- Healthy breakfasts and treats
- And yes… a few indulgent desserts, because life is better with chocolate.
My Journey
I launched Well Plated in 2012 when my husband was in law school and I needed a creative outlet. I grew up baking with my grandmothers in the Midwest and always had an interest in cooking, so I turned to the kitchen in my free time.
I checked out cookbooks from the library and started to recreate healthy versions of the dishes I remembered my grandmothers making.
Soon, I became wild about coming up with lighter twists on those comfort foods that tasted just as delicious.
We were on a tight student budget so we couldn’t afford the “fancy” specialty grocery stores. I decided that didn’t matter; I could cook us healthy food that tasted great without spending a fortune.
In 2014, I quit my full-time consulting job to pursue my blog exclusively. My “hobby” had ignited a fire. Not only did I want to eat healthy recipes that tasted fantastic, I wanted to teach others to do the same.
Today, millions of people visit this site every month and make my recipes every day; it’s both incredibly humbling and a responsibility that I take seriously.
Where You Might Have Seen Me
My work and cooking tips have been featured on Good Morning America, WGN, Huffington Post, FOX6 Milwaukee, SELF, Milwaukee Magazine, Wisconsin Public Radio, Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, People, MSN, and more.
I’ve also been featured in the Notre Dame alumni magazine (go Fighting Irish!), the Park Record, Food Blogger Pro, Dishing Park City, and NPR, where I discuss my career as a food blogger.

A Little More About Me
I split my time between Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Park City, Utah with my husband and our lazy but lovable beagle mix, Teddy.
I’m a farmers market regular, cocktail experimenter, procrasti-baker, and slightly awkward dancer (just ask my husband).
I believe community grows where meals are eaten together, no matter the size of the gathering. Sharing nourishing recipes that are straightforward to prepare, yet still feel special, is important to me.
I started Well Plated because I wanted to share what I’ve learned: that cooking can be joyful, stress-free, and even fun.I hope you feel inspired by the recipes you find here and that they find life in your kitchen!
Thank you for being here—it truly means the world to me!
