Benefits of Cooking with an Instant Pot
- Quick & Hands-Free. An Instant Pot turns time-consuming recipes into quick and easy ones. Better yet, you don’t have to stand over the stove while your recipe cooks. One of my favorite time-saving, hands-off hacks is this easy Instant Pot Sweet Potatoes recipe.
- Great for Last-Minute Meals. Since you can cook frozen meat in an Instant Pot, it’s an excellent tool for making meals at the last minute (like this Instant Pot Chicken).
- Year-Round Recipes. The Instant Pot is a tool you can from season to season. Whether you want healthy summer Instant Pot recipes (like these potluck-approved Instant Pot Ribs) or winter Instant Pot recipes (like this Instant Pot Beef Stew), you can easily find something to make.
- Sauté and Cook. The Instant Pot provides the opportunity to both sauté and pressure cook in the same vessel (less to wash!).
Instant Pot Tips and Tricks
- Natural Release vs. Quick Release. A quick release causes the steam to escape rapidly, which can help deter overcooking (this is great for pasta). A natural release allows the pressure to decrease more slowly, making it a wonderful choice for recipes with lots of liquid or when you want to let ingredients rest after cooking (such as a soup or large cut of meat).
- Avoid Burn Warning. Make sure you scrape any stuck-on bits of food from the bottom of the pot before you seal it and start cooking. Pieces of food stuck to the bottom can trigger the “burn” warning on your Instant Pot.
- When to Increase Cook Time. Interestingly, you don’t typically need to alter the pressure cooking time of a recipe when you’re doubling it. The pressure cooking time should be increased, however, if you are increasing the SIZE of your individual ingredients. For example: if you’re making Instant Pot Chili and choose to cut your vegetables into much larger pieces, then your time will need to be increased, as those ingredients will take longer to cook.
- Don’t Overfill. Keep your food below the fill line inside your Instant Pot to ensure that everything cooks evenly.
Recommended Tools to Make Instant Pot Recipes
- Instant Pot. I own and love this 6-quart model. I use it multiple times a week, and it works as well as the day I bought it.
- Instant Pot Trivet. Great for elevating ingredients inside the Instant Pot.
- Sharp Chef’s Knife. An indispensable tool for cutting fruit, veggies, meat, and more!
- Large Cutting Board. Extra space makes it easier to cut large amounts of ingredients at once.
- Instant Read Thermometer. When cooking meat, this tool is the best way to ensure it’s cooked through.
- Immersion Blender. Perfect for blending soups right in the Instant Pot.

Thanks for your beef stew recipe Erin! It was great-we had it during superbowl:)
You’re welcome, Lynn! I’m so happy to hear it was a hit!
The beef stew instapot recipe was amazing, everyone loved it so much, my daughter even asked for an instapot for her birthday, Â I followed your link and ordered one. Â Thank you!
Karleen, I hope your daughter loves hers too! Thanks so much for reporting back, and I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the stew!
I have pressure pro pot and it doesnt have saute setting. Have any ideas what I would do to saute onions? The booklett that came with it doesnt explain that. Also trying on line to get info but not very successful.
thanks,
Robera
Hi Roberta! Unfortunately, I’m not familiar with this exact product, but from what I can find online, it sounds like you can select the “brown” button to saute items. I hope this is helpful!
Unfortunately no brown button either on this pot. I sauted what needed to be done in a regular pan and added to the pot! Anyway turned out great. I used soy crumbles to make vegan. Little spicier for some of my friends. Next time I will lower the Chipotle powder. But for me was perfect.
Thank you for taking the time to report back, Roberta!

You wrote, “This guide goes beyond my top 10 healthy Instant Pot recipes.”
Should there be 10 or 15 Healthy Instant Pot Recipes?
I only see many, many links to Instant Pot Recipes.
How do I know which ones are healthy?
Am I supposed to click on all of them?
Also, what if I am looking for Low Carb Instant Pot Main Meals or Low Carb, Air Fryer Desserts?
It would be great if we could select more than one option to narrow down the recipes.
Your recipes look amazing and I appreciate the huge amount of time and money you have obviously put into this website; however, finding recipes suitable for my family is far too time consuming. Please consider asking your web developers for a user-friendly search function.
Hi Nataly, for these recipes, we consider them all on the healthy side. When looking for anything specific, such as low carb recipes. There is a tab at the top that says all recipes. Then a drop down menu will show you all of our categories. We’ve made is as user friendly as we possibly can, and have broken down the categories as much as we can. When looking for something as specific as low card, air fryer desserts you will have to poke around a little more to find what you are looking for, but we actually do not have any air fryer desserts on this site. Hope this helps!
